The Alfa Romeo Tonale was initially introduced as a concept vehicle in 2019, and it’s finally about to make its debut as a compact luxury SUV. Here’s what we know so far and can confirm about this much-anticipated vehicle.
Under the hood is a 1.3-liter gas engine mated to an electric motor with an electric all-wheel-drive system. This model’s total output is 240 horsepower.
Expect up to 30 miles of driving on a full charge. This marks the beginning of a bigger plan from Alfa Romeo to transition to an all-electric inventory by 2027.
As an SUV, the Alfa Romeo Tonale is expected to be a more compact version of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, though no official numbers have been released yet regarding dimensions.
Few details have been revealed about the interior, though spy photos of prototype models have revealed some details.
These include a dashboard-like padded trim similar to that of the Alfa Romeo Giulia. The steering wheel also boasts an engine start button positioned on the left-hand side.
No official release date has been confirmed yet. However, it’s expected to be released in the European market in the first or second quarter of 2022. A North American release should follow before the end of that year. This will mark the brand’s first foray into the compact SUV segment.
